Taoyuan, Taiwan, Nov. 4th, 2014 –Evonik United Silica Industries Ltd. (EUSIL), a wholly owned subsidy of Evonik Industries AG, celebrates today its 35 years anniversary. About 150 guests, including key customers and partners attended the celebration.

Established in 1979, EUSIL was the first production site Evonik established in the Greater China region. With a total capacity of 50,000 tons per annum, EUSIL produces Silica products and serves customers in more than 15 countries for a wide range of industries and applications, including tires, shoe soles, batteries, coatings, electronics, etc..

EUSIL has been operating according to high-standard management systems that ensure compliance and conformity to environment, safety, health and quality regulations. The company has obtained certificates like ISO 9001, ISO 14000, ISO 50001, HACCP and OHSAS 18001. It has also achieved 8 years of zero lost-time accidents, an impressive record that clearly shows EUSIL’s high safety performance.

“EUSIL is a cornerstone in Evonik’s silica production network in Asia and plays a key role for the development of our silica business in the region,” Dr. Johannes Ohmer, President Inorganic Materials Business Unit of Evonik Industries, commented at the celebration. “Using three and half decades extensive experience in silica production at EUSIL, Evonik is committed to create value for our customers through the reliable supply of high quality products and solutions.“

To optimize EUSIL’s product portfolio towards specialties and to differentiate from the regional competitors, Evonik has been continuously investing in new technologies and products. For example, a dispersion unit including laboratory and pilot plant was established in EUSIL in 2012. With state-of-art milling technology and long experience in powders (fumed oxides), silanes, dispersants and oligomers, Evonik provides customers tailor-made dispersion solutions based on special silica and metal oxides in water, organic solvents, or monomers. The dispersion unit and competency in Taiwan enables Evonik to respond quickly to the needs of the customers in various industries in Asia including electronics, plastics and coatings. Due to the growing demand in the Asia Pacific markets, an expansion of the dispersion unit is already underway.

“People are our most important success factor, therefore in EUSIL we focus on the training and development of our employees. Many of the former EUSIL employees have been promoted to take regional business responsibilities. They are not only the backbones for the success of EUSIL, but are also critical for Evonik’s business growth in Taiwan, Greater China and Asia,” said Dr. Gerard Berote, President Evonik Taiwan and General Manager of EUSIL.
