An Antioxidant from Nature for the Whole Family

Continuous use of MEDOX® helps protect blood vessels and immune systems. Scientific research conducted by many universities and university hospitals in Norway and around the world confirms the efficacy of MEDOX®.

As people are paying more and more attention to health and fitness, they also scrutinize the source of the raw materials in their healthcare products and verify the scientific efficacy claims of such products. MEDOX®, an oral capsule from Norway containing a significant amount of anthocyanins extracted from Scandinavian bilberries and blackcurrants, works to prevent the degeneration of cells caused by excessive free radicals in the human body. Rich in anthocyanins - one of the most effective natural antioxidants

As a nutritional supplement, each MEDOX® capsule contains up to 80 mg of anthocyanins. Other anthocyanin extract products on the market usually contain no more than 30 mg. Anthocyanins are water-soluble pigments belonging to the flavonoids class of compounds. Studies have shown that anthocyanins are the most effective antioxidant found by humans so far with oxidation resistance 50 times higher than that of vitamin E and 200 times higher than that of vitamin C. Anthocyanins are beneficial to the human body in many aspects:

  • Helping prevent multiple diseases related to free radicals including cancer and cardiovascular diseases;
  • Promoting rhodopsin regeneration in retinal cells, improving vision, and encouraging eye health;
  • Preventing and delaying skin laxity and aging due to oxidative reactions; and,
  • Enhancing immunity and reducing vulnerability to cold.

Sourced from nature, an antioxidant far superior to blueberries

Many plants that we are quite familiar with in nature contain Anthocyanins including purple sweet potatoes, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, grapes, and mulberries. Unlike its counterparts using blueberries and other natural plants as raw materials, MEDOX® chooses bilberries and blackcurrants due to their high levels of C3G (Cyanidin-3-Glucoside) and D3G (Delphinidin-3-Glucoside) anthocyanins, both of which are the most biologically active members in the anthocyanin family.

Scandinavia is one of the closest places to the North Pole. Known mostly for aurora borealis, fjords and salmon, there are also a large number of wild bilberries. This dark purple fruit looks similar to blueberries at first glance. However, a closer study reveals that compared with blueberries of the same family, bilberry fruit is smaller in size, richer in taste and darker in color with far superior nutritional efficacy. As verified by several research institutes, bilberries surpass blueberries in both the variety of anthocyanins and their content in single fruit.

Made in Norway, patented process ensures efficacy

At the end of the 1990s, a research team focused on flavonoids from The University of Bergen, Norway, discovered that a few anthocyanins counteract cancer growth and seem to have a positive effect on AIDS patients. Together with Sjur Svaboe, a renowned biopharmaceutical entrepreneur in Norway, they established Polyphenols Laboratories to carry out professional R&D on anthocyanin as a nutritional supplement and successfully launched the brand MEDOX®.

The process of producing high-quality, stable-content anthocyanin capsules remained a challenge until MEDOX® was introduced. Affected by weather, soil environment and other factors, the effective nutrient content in natural plants is subject to fluctuation. To make high-purity healthcare products from the nutrients extracted from bilberries and other plants, Medpalett's researchers developed a patented process to achieve high and uniform anthocyanin content. In a modern facility in Sandnes, Norway, continuous quality control and special monitoring methods ensure that each capsule holds exactly the same amount (80 mg) of anthocyanins free from seasonal fluctuations.

Since high temperatures accelerates the oxidation and deactivation of anthocyanins, MEDOX®’s high concentration process utilizes a gentle patented technology performed under the protection of nitrogen gas to prevent the oxidation of extract from to exposure to air. In this way, the 17 natural anthocyanins in MEDOX® maintain the intactness of their molecular structure to guarantee full function in the human body. Then these antioxidants are pulverized and put into convenient capsules.

Endorsed by a number of independent studies worldwide

Since its launch in 2000, MEDOX® has become a great success in Norway. Winning the love of millions of consumers, a large number of doctors, therapists and healthcare professionals also recommend MEDOX™ as a dietary supplement. Clinical studies by research institutes in Norway, the EU, Australia, China and the US have confirmed its efficacy in cardiovascular protection, antioxidation and more. In 2008, MEDOX® entered global markets and is now available in pharmacies and online stores of Germany, Sweden and other European countries.

Clinical studies have also affirmed that by oral administration, the active ingredient in MEDOX®, anthocyanins, can be absorbed into plasma and cells. Thanks to its 100% natural source, as well as the safe and stable patented extraction process, all family members including children can feel at ease to take MEDOX®. Norwegian consumers’ experience spanning for decades shows that a daily dose of MEDOX® can maximize health benefits. MEDOX® anthocyanin capsules, as a family-friendly nutraceutical, have become a breakfast necessity for many Norwegian families.

In 2016, Evonik Industries, a German-headquartered specialty chemicals company, acquired Medpalett helping Evonik expand the portfolio of its Health Care Business Line. With more R&D resources and a stronger marketing network, Medpalett remains committed to providing safe and effective naturally-sourced healthcare products for global consumers.
