Evonik to showcase latest innovations and sustainability initiatives in polymer chemistry at K 2025
- Exhibit highlights new sustainable, mass-balanced VESTAMID® and INFINAM® polymers alongside its VESTAKEEP® PEEK portfolio
- Event will feature Evonik panel discussion on how lifecycle assessments drive business development
- Evonik to present its vision for circularity in packaging and transforming plastic waste into high-quality recyclates
Essen, Germany. Evonik is showcasing its latest sustainable solutions in polymer chemistry and initiatives for circularity in plastics at K-Fair, the world’s leading event for the plastics sector, taking place from October 8 to 15 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
“The K-Fair always provides excellent opportunities to interact one-on-one with industrial users of our materials and discuss how our forward-looking innovations can help them solve their current and future challenges,” said Dominic Stoerkle, head of Evonik’s High Performance Polymers’ Long Chain Polyamides product line. “Our versatile VESTAMID® polymer, for example, has become one of the world’s most widely used polyamide 12 products for traditional, automotive line-systems. Through continued, customer-centric developments, VESTAMID® is now also a top-quality material for today’s busbars and other electric- vehicle battery and charging systems.”
Among the company’s key future-oriented solutions on display during the K-Fair are: initiatives in circular economy and circular plastics and packaging, innovative materials for hi-tech manufacturing processes, and certified, low-carbon materials production.
Highlights include:
Recent achievements in more sustainable polymers
With a focus on product sustainability, the company will showcase its latest polyamide 12 based VESTAMID® and INFINAM® materials, which are made using a mass-balanced certified process that reduces CO2 emissions by up to 70 %. There will also be a panel discussion on sustainability and how lifecycle assessments drive business development and strategic decisions. Lifecycle assessments for many VESTAMID® and TROGAMID® products are publicly available on Evonik’s Plastics Database (https://www.plastics-database.com).
Evonik’s vision for circularity in plastics and packaging
Evonik will also showcase its contributions to plastics recycling through innovative additive solutions that transform even contaminated plastic waste into high-quality recyclates. The mechanical recycling process is optimized with products such as TEGO® CYCLE WA 111 and TEGO® RES 1100, which work in tandem to effectively remove inks, packaging labels, and residues during the wet stage, ensuring the production of high-quality recyclates. Additionally, TEGO® Antifoam KS 53 provides essential foam control to maintain process stability and safety, meeting food contact standards for sensitive applications. Evonik's TEGO® PPA grades also present a sustainable alternative to PFAS-based processing additives, enhancing packaging quality while reducing environmental impact.
Robust polymers for today and tomorrow
Evonik will also present its latest VESTAMID® materials, which are increasingly used in advanced automotive systems such as power busbars and battery cooling lines. Also on display are VESTAKEEP® PEEK materials, which Evonik continues to develop into future applications, ranging from cutting-edge medical devices to components for the automotive industry.
The latest materials for sporting goods will be highlighted as well, including the company’s VESTAMID® E elastomers, which provide low density, excellent impact strength and wide flexibility as midsoles in high-end athletic shoes. Additionally, samples of meltblown non-woven materials made from VESTAMID® will be on display at the Evonik booth. Used in textiles, filtration and other applications, these fleece-like materials are lightweight and possess exceptional properties when made with the latest VESTAMID® materials on display.
A pioneer material in polymer-based 3D printing, the latest INFINAM® PA12 products will be on display at the Evonik booth, providing a glimpse of the enormous potential of this advanced technology for polymers.
