The Invisible Protection for the Vehicles
A nice vehicle is an indispensable partner for your journey. There are many criteria when selecting the vehicle, such as external design, interior decoration and vehicle’s performance. It is believed that the driving experience must also be considered for both the driver and passengers.
However, you may not imagine that the driving are closely related to an invisible “sealer”. It protects your vehicle and escort the journey.
With it, you can drive with ease even on bumpy roads, keep you away from the annoying noise outside of the vehicle. Without it, the vehicle may bounce and vibrate on the uneven road surface, even the passengers have to raise up the voice to talk in the vehicle, which makes the driving quite suffer.
What is this invisible "sealer"? In fact, sealers are widely used in a vehicle, because the anti-rust and sealing property can determine the comfort, aesthetics and even the life time of a vehicle. Without the proper treatment, the vehicle may be rusted or even perforated in a short period of time. Therefore, when the is painted, the sealant with high-efficient anti-corrosion and good sealing performance will be applied to shield the seam, for example, spraying sealer on the chassis to protect the vehicle from hitting by sands and gravels at high speed, reduce the noise inside the vehicle, and improve the driving experience and ensure the corrosion resistance of the chassis.
Driven by the demand of fuel saving, low VOC emission and cost saving, there is an increasing need for high performance and easily handling sealers and adhesives by automotive manufacturers.
Now, PVC plastisol, as weld spot sealer and anti-chip coating for chassis, wheel covers, and fenders protection is wildly used in automotive sealant so that it can provide anti-corrosion resistance and prolong service life.
However, before PVC plastisol needs to be baking with high temperature, long baking circle means more fuel consumption and VOC emission. In recent years, China government enforces rigid regulation and policies, therefore, OEMs are facing high pressure to lower energy consumption and VOC emission, which also calls for the innovative materials solutions from the suppliers.
For decades, Evoniks’s NOURYBOND® products have led the automotive PVC plastisol market trend with the innovative solutions to customers. The NOURYBOND® product series can meet the technical requirements from OEMs, achieving good adhesion performance on different substrate surfaces.
“NOURYBOND® 382 is the “Next Generation” PVC plastisol adhesion promoter developed based on Evonik technological platform. As a new member of the NOURYBOND® family, it has won the market reputation by excellent performance when launched in 2018. NOURYBOND® 382-based PVC plastisol can offer better anti-chip performance, reduce vehicle noise and improve water proofing properties and driving experience,” commented Dr. Jonathan Yan, Technical Manager of Evonik Crosslinkers Business Line China, “This product has many benefits including light color, low odor, free of phthalate and aromatic hydrocarbon plasticizers, SGS environmental certification. It’s also applicable to diversity baking circles, fit perfectly with top coat and ideal for special substrate of new energy vehicles. In addition, its fast bonding build-up with low temperature and short baking time can help improve production efficiency and fuel saving.”
